HarmonyOS 6’s file sharing feature has been introduced with a significant innovation that breaks down the barriers between Huawei and Apple devices. With the new operating system version, Huawei now allows direct data transfer between iOS, iPadOS, and macOS devices.
How will HarmonyOS 6 file sharing work?
This new step is seen as a major advancement in cross-ecosystem connectivity. Previously, Honor introduced a similar feature called “AI Connect” with MagicOS 9. According to reports, Huawei will need a dedicated app published through the Apple App Store to use this feature.
HarmonyOS 6 not only opens up file sharing but also introduces a new architecture called “Galaxy Interconnection.” This architecture increases the connection strength between devices, boosting sharing speeds to up to 160MB/s. It is also claimed to have improved latency and power consumption by more than 20 percent.
Huawei has also focused on security. The new version introduces encrypted sharing capabilities. Users can now prevent secondary media distribution by setting the “view once” mode. Additionally, there’s also the option to restrict screenshots or recordings of sensitive content.
